Trap-Neuter-Rehome/Release-Manage (TNRM) Programme for Community Cats
TNRM is a holistic, humane, and science-based approach to manage the community cat population as well as the potential inconveniences or concerns that these cats may cause in the community. Under TNRM, community cats are humanely captured, sterilised, microchipped and ear-tipped, before they are rehomed or released back into the environment.
AVS implemented the Trap-Neuter-Rehome/Release-Manage (TNRM) programme for community cats on 1 September 2024. Under TNRM, AVS enhanced funding support for sterilisation and microchipping, and expanded funding support to include trapping and boarding of community cats. TNRM builds upon and replaces the Stray Cat Sterilisation Programme (SCSP), which started in 2011 and saw an average of 3,500 cats sterilised and microchipped annually since 2020.
