Personal import of pet food
A Cargo Clearance Permit (CCP), which serves as an AVS-issued import permit, is required for the import of pet food/treats/supplements. This includes online purchases from overseas which are imported via parcel post.
Pet food will be detained and disposed of or returned to sender if not accompanied by an AVS-issued import permit.
More information on the import requirements for pet food can be found here.
Traveller’s allowance
Travellers do not require an AVS-issued import permit to import pet food not containing meat for their pet’s consumption. However, the amounts must not exceed our allowance limits.
The allowance limits are:
Dry pet food – 20 kg per person.
Wet pet food – 5 kg per person.
These limits apply to hand-carried baggage only.
The types of pet food allowed to be hand-carried into Singapore include dog, cat, small mammal, bird, and fish feed from all countries, and should not contain any meat ingredients.
Do note that amounts above the allowance limits stated above will require an AVS-issued import permit. Excess pet food will be detained and disposed of.
